Three Reasons We'll Be Seeing More Independent Travelers In Roadside Alaska

Travelers in Alaska.

#1 Reason -- Boomers Are Retiring
People born after 1946 are retiring. A lot of them have substantial retirement plans. As the markets and their 401K's recover, their numbers will increase exponentially over the next 10 years.

These new travelers want to see Alaska on their own. They're looking for:

• Adventure
• Lifestyle Insight
• Environmental Insight

#2 Reason -- Alaska is a World-Class Destination
There's no getting around it. We were just Outside for a family reunion, and overheard an unusual number of people expressing a strong interest to Alaska. For example: A Macy's shoe salesman told us his favorite TV show is Deadliest Catch -- about Alaska crab fishermen. Two strangers looking at an airport arrival board in Minneapolis discussed with each other how much they wished they were taking the plane to Fairbanks instead of their respective destinations. And a new in-law said she and her husband want to drive the Alcan.

Shows like "Ice Road Truckers", "Deadliest Catch" and Ken Burns National Park Special are making Alaska a "must-see" destination.

#3 Reason -- Families Want to Show Their Kids Alaska
Make your business "Family Friendly". Give families what they want: adventure, environmental awareness, Alaskan lifestyle (including a chance to get to know you) and they will reward you well with interest, excitement, respect -- and more business.
