Boomers Have Money To Spend On Alaska's Roads

More Money Can Be Spent On Travel To Alaska

There's more money for discretionary buying -- like tourism this summer. As newly-traveling Baby Boomers began circulating around the state of Alaska in large campers, it became obvious to many people on the roads that their long-delayed retirement had finally arrived.

Of course, not all of America, or Alaska, has rebounded. But, for the 10,000 Baby Boomers who are now retiring every day, travel is a real priority. And they have the money to make it happen.

Why are they coming here? Because travel to Alaska is a "distant" destination, yet still safely on home turf in the United States. And interest in Alaska has never been higher; witness the almost impossible-to-catalog series of "reality" TV shows that are flooding the networks.

Although many of these shows are not as realistic as they claim (especially to an Alaskan) they tend to focus on rural areas and everyday life, which is a real plus for independent travelers -- and independent Alaskan businesses scattered along Alaska's roads.

The Baby Boomers are now on their way. And they're coming to see us -- in Roadside Alaska.
