Alaska is getting a lot of free press. On TV in Anchorage this fall
(for example) the new Ken Burns show on the National Parks was
running simultaneously on two different channels.
And, we got a call this weekend from a Maryland artist who teaches classes
on Caribbean cruise ships. "Everybody down here is so
excited about Denali Park! Have you seen that Ken Burns film
on TV? It's running all the time. And Alaska is beautiful! They say
Denali is the one park where they got it right!"
Well, we said, Some people in Alaska are worried that Alaska might
drop out from being a big destination. "That's crazy," she said.
"People who go on cruises all the time are getting tired of the
Caribbean. They want something new, and it's not necessarily
Europe."
