A "Banner Year" In The Wilderness

This remote part of Alaska -- at the end of a very long dirt road, in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park -- has had a very good summer. It's a special destination for people who are truly interested in "Alaska." McCarthy was the supply town for the famous nearby Kennicott Mines, and is full of old cabins and railroad buildings.

Neil Darish runs several lodging facilities in the historic town of McCarthy, as well as McCarthy Lodge. He says, "We are way up! I can't believe it. This is going to be a banner year. I'm really excited."
